What is Cycling?

During normal cycling operation, your air conditioner compressor runs and rests in recurring intervals to maintain your ideal room temperature. When Energy Wise Rewards conservation periods occur, air continues to be circulated throughout your home by the air conditioner fan. The cycling option you choose determines how long your central air conditioner compressor will rest during each Energy Wise Rewards conservation period.

50% Cycling

 Best for your comfort
Your air conditioner compressor operates 50% of the time that it did in the hour prior to the conservation period. Most participants at this level report they do not notice a conservation period occurring. Expect a 1-3° rise in temperature during a conservation period.

75% Cycling

 Better for the planet
Your air conditioner compressor operates 25% of the time that it did in the hour prior to the conservation period. This option benefits the environment more, but is not recommended for those with medical conditions. Expect a 2-4° rise in temperature.

100% Cycling

 Best for your budget and the planet
Your air conditioner compressor does not operate for the duration of the conservation period. This option is best for those not home during the day. It is also not recommended for those with medical conditions. Expect a 4-7° rise in temperature during a conservation period.
